FR — Ce projet documentaire et photographique de Lionel Catelan s’intéresse à la transformation soudaine de Grenoble, traversée par une véritable «secousse» architecturale et artistique à l’occasion des Jeux Olympiques d’hiver de 1968. D’une ambition artistique sans précédent, avec notamment l’organisation du premier symposium français de sculpture rassemblant plus de vingt sculpteurs internationaux, ce bouleversement traduit la volonté de la ville de confronter les artistes et le public à l’architecture et aux aménagements urbains qui accompagnent les Jeux. Tandis que Paris s’apprête à accueillir les prochains Jeux Olympiques d’été 2024, ce livre apporte un éclairage nouveau sur la mise en œuvre d’une vision architecturale moderniste inédite, cherchant à intégrer l’art dans l’architecture sous toutes ses formes (sculpture, peinture, mosaïque, etc.). Il questionne au passage le paradoxe de l’éphémère et du pérenne des stratégies urbaines passées et futures et le mythe immaculé de la rénovation urbaine.

EN — This documentary and photographic project by Lionel Catelan looks at the sudden transformation of Grenoble, which underwent a veritable architectural and artistic 'shake-up' on the occasion of the 1968 Winter Olympics. With its unprecedented artistic ambitions, including the organisation of the first French sculpture symposium bringing together more than twenty international sculptors, this upheaval reflected the city's desire to confront artists and the public with the architecture and urban development that accompanied the Games. As Paris prepares to host the next Summer Olympics in 2024, this book sheds new light on the implementation of an unprecedented modernist architectural vision, seeking to integrate art into architecture in all its forms (sculpture, painting, mosaics, etc.). It also questions the paradox of the ephemeral and the perennial in past and future urban strategies, and the immaculate myth of urban renewal.

FR — Jad Hussein est graphiste, diplômé de l’ECV (École de communication visuelle) d’Aix-en-Provence en 2007. Avec rigueur et bienveillance, une sensibilité pour l’image et un intérêt pour l’articulation des contenus, Jad Hussein développe de longues collaborations avec des institutions (Musée d’Art Contemporain de Lyon), des éditeurs (Paris Musées), des architectes (o-s architectes), des photographes (Cyrille Weiner) et des marques (Carhartt WIP). Il a fondé et dirigé la maison d’édition 19/80 entre 2010 et 2015. Il enseigne le design éditorial à l’ECV Paris depuis 2010.
EN — Jad Hussein is a graphic designer, graduated from the ECV (School of Visual Communication) in Aix-en-Provence in 2007. With rigour and caring, a sensitivity for the image and an interest in the articulation of content, Jad Hussein has developed long-standing collaborations with institutions (Museum of Contemporary Art in Lyon), publishers (Paris Musées), architects (o-s architects), photographers (Cyrille Weiner) and brands (Carhartt WIP). He founded and directed the publishing house 19/80 between 2010 and 2015. He teaches editorial design at ECV Paris since 2010.
